BROWNSBORO DOWNS ARP, 57-34, TO SNAP LOSING STREAK

The Brownsboro Bears hosted Arp on Tuesday night, defeating the Tigers 57-34 to snap their six-game losing streak. Jarrod Hastings scored seven of the Bears’ first 11 points, courtesy of two three-pointers and a free throw, as they jumped out to the early 11-0 lead. Back-to-back three pointers by Johnathon Blackwell got Arp on the board trailing 11-6 with three minutes in the first quarter. Leading 13-8, Tylor Johnson’s field goal with 15 seconds built the lead to 15-8, but Blackwell trimmed the lead to 15-10 after the opening quarter with his own field goal at seven seconds. With the Tigers trailing 17-10 early in the second quarter, Kadaylon Williams and Blackwell’s jumpshots cut the lead to 17-14 with 5:58 until halftime. The Bears built more breathing room with a 21-14 advantage at 2:40 after Chance King’s three-pointer and Hastings’ free throw. Following Williams’ jumpshot with 1:45, it was 22-16, but Colby Wood nailed a three-pointer with 2 seconds and the Bears led 25-16 at halftime. The Bears came out of the locker room red-hot, outscoring the Tigers 10-2 for the 35-18 lead with 1:48. Brownsboro led 44-22 as the fourth quarter began, but Arp went on its best run of the night with a 10-2 stretch to trail 46-32. The run was capped off by a steal and fast-break layup by Jayce Phillips with 4:54. However, that was the closest the Tigers got for the rest of the night as Brownsboro closed the game after the timeout outscoring Arp 11-2 and cruising to the 57-34 victory for their second win of the season. Brownsboro was led by Tylor Johnson's 10 points, nine points apiece by Gage Wehrmann and Jarrod Hastings and Chance King's eight points. The Bears improve to 2-6 and return to action on Tuesday at Grace Community School in Tyler at 7:30 p.m.
