BEARS EDGE PANTHERS IN FINAL GAME

A great night for football brought together two fierce rivals --- the Brownsboro Bears and Bullard Panthers. And with playoff implications on the line, the Bears edged the Panthers, 21-20, earning a berth in District 7-4A. Scoring in the first half were Panthers Nic Hooley on an 83-yard touchdown pass from Landry Lasseter. At the end of the first half, the Panthers scored two touchdowns. Lasseter ran in a 7-yard touchdown, and Reece Ricketts added the two-point conversion. Then, Ricketts ran in a sore from 11 yards out. But the Bears weren’t going away empty-handed. Gage Wehrmann hit Cole Williams on a throwback pass of 28 yards and a touchdown. Jorge Vicente kicked the extra point. The halftime score was 20-7. Outstanding players are Lasseter, Ricketts, and Harrison Hopson for Bullard. For the Bears, Austin Loosier and Gavyn Young played well on defense. Wehrmann played well on offense. The second half started with a 6-minute drive by the Bears and Saul Williams scoring from the 5-yard line. Vicente kicked the extra point. That was the only score of the third quarter, even though both teams had scoring opportunities. The fourth quarter provided plenty of tense moments. With 2:07 left in the game, the Bears' Wehrmann ran five yards for six points, and Vicente hit the game-winning extra point. Bullard missed a 23-yard field with no time left. It was the final regular season game for the Bears (2-2, 3-7). Bullard (1-2, 2-7) travels to Canton next Friday.
