CENTER -- The Brownsboro Bears and Center Roughriders lit up the scoreboard in deep East Texas on Friday night.
The Roughriders couldn’t handle the Bears' Saul Williams, but made just enough big plays to pull out a 43-33 victory.
In the first half, Williams scored on a 39-yard run with Gage Wehrmann finding the end zone on on a two-yard quarterback sneak. Jorge Vicente kicked two extra points.
After two three-and-outs, the Roughriders scored on a 22-yard touchdown run by Jayden Hicks. Alexis Lopez kicked the point after.
The Bears led 14-7 at halftime.
The second half started with the Bears holding the Roughriders again and Williams took off on a dazzling 40-yard touchdown run. Minutes later, Williams added an eight-yard touchdown run along with a four-yard touchdown run. Vicente added one extra point.
Center scored with Marques Hall going 62 yards for the touchdown. Keamodre Horace streaked for 54 yards and six points. Hicks passed 45 yards to Jakerian Watson for their fourth touchdown.
Horace got his second touchdown from 37 yards out. Lopez added the extra points. Plus Hicks made one two-point conversion.
