BROWNSBORO LOSES AREA ROUND CONTEST TO CARTHAGE
The Brownsboro Bears season came to an end. The final score of 56-50 pushes the Carthage Bulldogs to the regional quarterfinals.
“I’m proud of the effort of our kids, but It just seemed to be Carthage’s night,” said Bear head coach Brent Smith.
The first quarter was fast paced with the Bulldogs making six point blank buckets to lead 13-8.
Going in at halftime, the Bears really got going to the tune of 28-20.
Saul Williams came off the bench to provide a huge spark. He scored five points and took down five boards while playing some tenacious defense.
The real key was getting Kenneth Woods involved in the game. He came through with 12 points and eight rebounds.
DeWaylon Ingram led Carthage with seven points.
The second half began with the Bulldogs making a barrage of three-pointers to take the lead.
The Bears came back to lead 38-35 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was run and gun, with the Bulldogs making 21 points to the Bears 12.
Ingram led Carthage with 26 points, followed by Dee Bowen’s 15 points.
Woods had 21 and Kevon Thompson had 12 to lead the Bears.
The Bears ended up 24-6. Carthage will play Canton this week. Their season record is 16-5
