Brownsboro enhances playoff chances with win over Terrell

BROWNSBORO ENHANCES PLAYOFF CHANCES WITH WIN OVER TERRELL

Playoff hopes went an unfortunate way for Terrell after a 42-20 loss to Brownsboro on Friday night at Brownsboro Football Stadium. The loss puts Terrell (2-6, 1-3) at fifth place in district with Crandall (4-4, 2-2) and Brownsboro (5-3, 2-2) holding the last two-playoff spots. Crandall and Brownsboro hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Terrell. For hopes at making the playoffs, Terrell would need to beat Mabank and Van and to have Crandall or Brownsboro lose its last two games. On Friday, Brownsboro played like a team that wanted it more as they took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Brownsboro senior running back Kenneth Woods ran for a seven-yard touchdown run and a four-yard touchdown run to put the Bears up early. Brownsboro senior running back Kevon Thompson punched in an eight-yard touchdown run to give the Bears a 21-0 lead. Terrell scored with 23 seconds before halftime when junior Micah Skinner ran from six yards out for the touchdown. The point after kick was missed. Brownsboro took a 21-6 halftime lead. Senior Markel Savala got Terrell back into the game on a 78-yard kick-off return for a touchdown to open the second half to make the score 21-12. The two-point conversion failed. Skinner recovered a Brownsboro fumble and Terrell took over at the Brownsboro 49-yard line. After the turnover, Terrell moved the ball inside the Brownsboro 30-yard line, but the drive ended with Terrell turning the ball over on downs. Woods ran for a two-yard touchdown to put Brownsboro up 27-12. The two-point conversion failed. After another Terrell turnover on downs, Thomspon ran for a two-yard touchdown and converted a two-point conversion to extend the Brownsboro lead to 35-12. Skinner ran for a one-yard touchdown and rushed for a two-point conversion to make the score 35-20 heading into the fourth quarter. Thompson ran for a five-yard touchdown to put the game away at 42-20. Terrell senior Jordan Hickman led the team in rushing with 100 yards on 12 carries. He also had 60 yards on three receptions. Terrell Freshman Cameron Anthony led the team with 15 tackles.
